Two Charged In Connection With Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Assault
Two men have been charged following a luggage theft where a substance thought to be capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two robbery charges and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, authorities have stated.
The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Earlier that day, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after exiting a car park lift, according to law enforcement.
A toddler was caught up in the incident during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were eventually allowed to go home.
The incident – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not being treated as terrorism – caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
